Loons ‘dance’ as a display of aggression. This loon and its mate had to defend their pond against a determined pair of intruders. Loons are very territorial, as their population has recovered in New England, territorial fights are again common.
The Home Team was able to drive the intruders off the pond; they went on to raise a pair of chicks this summer.
